After revealing Blackbriar’s corruption twelve years ago, ex-CIA agent Jason Bourne has finally regained his memories and now lives in isolation in Greece working as a street fighter. In Reykjavík, Nicky Parsons – a Treadstone technician – hacks into the CIA’s server with the help of a hacktivist group led by Christian Dassault. During this mission, Parsons uncovers information about Bourne’s recruitment into Treadstone and his father’s involvement in the program. She travels to Athens to inform him of her discoveries. However, her actions are noticed by Heather Lee – head of the CIA’s cybersecurity division – as well as CIA Director Robert Dewey.
Teams are sent after Bourne and Parsons, who have agreed to meet in Syntagma Square during an anti-government protest in Greece. Dewey also dispatches the Asset, a former Blackbriar member who suffered torture in Syria due to Bourne’s exposure of the program. During their encounter, Parsons is shot by the Asset, causing her to drop the key to a locker containing CIA files that Bourne retrieves. In search of his true identity and family history, Bourne tracks down Dassault in Berlin. With Dassault’s help, he decrypts Parsons’ files and discovers his father was involved in the creation of Treadstone as a CIA analyst. However, Lee remotely destroys the files while a malware program embedded within reveals Bourne’s location to the agency. In a confrontation between Dassault and Bourne, Dassault is ultimately incapacitated.
