Jay and Silent Bob Reboot (2019)

Jay and Silent Bob Reboot (2019), a buddy stoner comedy film written, directed, edited by, and starring Kevin Smith, is set in Leonardo, New Jersey. The duo (Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith), known for growing marijuana in their old RST Video Store disguised as a chicken sandwich restaurant called ‘Cock Smoker’, are unexpectedly raided by a SWAT team. This leads them to court where they are assigned a lawyer who makes them sign a document prior to the trial. Successfully convincing the judge that their business was simply a pop-up promoting an upcoming movie, Jay and Silent Bob are released. However, another trial immediately follows where the lawyer now defends Saban Films, who had acquired the rights to Bluntman and Chronic. As Saban plans to reboot the franchise with a big-budget film, the lawyer argues that Jay and Bob had legally signed away their naming rights to Saban and can no longer use their iconic names.

Enraged, Jay and Silent Bob pay a visit to Brodie Bruce at his new store, Brodie’s Secret Stash located in the deserted mall. He informs them about Kevin Smith’s upcoming project, the Bluntman and Chronic reboot. Although most of it is already filmed, a crucial action scene is scheduled to take place at the annual fan convention Chronic-Con in Hollywood. With only three days left, Jay and Bob must reach Los Angeles in time to put an end to the movie production and reclaim their true identities. However, they are faced with another obstacle when they realize that they are banned from flying. Turning to desperate measures, they use a wealthy businessman’s credit card details to book a Ride Me Now service that will transport them directly to California. Finally reaching Chicago, they learn that their driver has never experienced the joys of marijuana before. Jay generously offers him a joint as a means of introduction.
