Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001) is a satirical stoner comedy film that was written, co-edited, and directed by Kevin Smith and produced by Scott Mosier. After years of dealing drugs outside the strip mall where they work, Dante Hicks and Randal Graves have finally had enough of Jay and Silent Bob’s antics. In response to the duo spreading false rumors about them being married in a Star Wars themed ceremony, Dante and Randal obtain a restraining order, resulting in Jay and Silent Bob being prohibited from coming within 100 feet of the mall for one year. In their time away from the mall, they visit their friend Brodie Bruce at his comic shop where they discover that their likeness is being turned into a movie by Miramax Films. Wanting their fair share of the profits, they seek out Holden McNeil, co-creator and writer of Bluntman and Chronic. However, Holden reveals that he sold his half of the rights to their other co-creator and artist Banky Edwards.
After reading negative reviews online, the duo decided to make a trip to Hollywood in order to salvage their reputation and hopefully collect their owed royalties. Along the way, they met a group called ‘Justice’, consisting of Sissy, Missy, Chrissy, and Brent. However, it soon became evident that this ‘animal liberation’ organization was merely a cover for the girls’ true plan – using Brent as a distraction while they robbed a diamond depository. Eager to get closer to Justice, Jay pushed Brent out of their van and attempted to impress her. Despite some hesitation, Justice eventually grew fond of the pair and reluctantly allowed them to join in on the scheme as additional patsies. In the midst of the heist, Jay and Silent Bob took advantage of the chaos by freeing an orangutan named Suzanne.
