Jungle (2017) is an Australian biographical survival drama film, based on the true story of Israeli adventurer Yossi Ghinsberg’s 1981 journey into the Amazon rainforest. Taking place in South America, it follows three friends – Yossi (Israeli), Kevin (American), and Marcus (Swiss) – who meet Karl (Austrian), a stranger claiming to be a unique guide. He promises to take them deep into the Amazon jungle to see a lost Indian tribe. After some convincing, they embark on this adventure, bringing along supplies and planning to restock at a village along the way. Led by Karl, they trek through the jungle smoothly until arriving at their planned stop for restocking. Here, the young men each participate in their own activities before continuing on to find the lost tribe.

As Kevin captures images, Marus attends to the locals’ medical needs and Yossi and Karl immerse themselves in the customs and traditions of the area. After their time in the jungle, the three companions head to the river for a refreshing bath. However, they quickly realize that they are a source of fascination for the village women, who are presumably not accustomed to seeing white men, especially unclothed. Amidst giggles from the amused women, the boys hastily cover themselves and wave awkwardly. As they bid farewell to their new acquaintances and continue their journey towards the lost tribe, they run into some difficulties. Their supplies have dwindled, leaving them in dire need of food. In a desperate move, Karl shoots a monkey from a nearby tree but fails to kill it with one shot. He resorts to brutally beating it to death, much to the discomfort of his companions.
