The American science fiction action film, Jurassic Park (1993), directed by Steven Spielberg and produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Gerald R. Molen, tells the story of industrialist John Hammond creating a theme park on a tropical island called Isla Nublar. The park is filled with cloned dinosaurs and attracts the attention of lawyer Donald Gennaro, who represents the investors. In response to a Velociraptor attack on one of the handlers, the investors demand a safety certification. Chaotician Ian Malcolm is invited by Gennaro, while Hammond invites paleontologist Alan Grant and paleobotanist Ellie Sattler to join them. Upon arrival, the group is amazed to see live dinosaurs, including a Brachiosaurus. At the visitor center, they learn that dinosaur DNA was extracted from prehistoric mosquitoes preserved in amber and filled in using DNA from frogs and other animals.
To avoid reproduction, the dinosaurs were genetically altered to be exclusively female. The group observes the hatching of a baby Velociraptor and later visits their enclosure. Over lunch, they engage in a discussion surrounding the morals of cloning and the origins of the park. Malcolm serves as a cautionary voice, voicing his concerns about genetic manipulation and criticizing the park’s construction, predicting its eventual downfall. Hammond’s grandchildren, Lex and Tim, join them for a tour of the park while Hammond monitors from the control room. Unfortunately, several dinosaurs do not make an appearance and they come across a sick Triceratops. The tour is abruptly cut short due to an approaching tropical storm. As most employees leave for safety on a boat, Sattler remains behind with Dr. Harding, the park’s veterinarian, to study the sick dinosaur.
