Kalki 2898 AD (2024) is an Indian Telugu-language epic science fiction film directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by Vyjayanthi Movies. Nearly 6,000 years after the Kurukshetra War in 3102 BC, Ashwatthama attempts to assassinate Uttarā’s unborn child. As a result, Krishna (the 8th reincarnation of Vishnu) curses him to roam the earth eternally, witnessing humanity’s suffering brought about by the degradation of society and morals in the Kali Yuga. His divine gem is also taken from his forehead, and his only path to redemption lies in protecting Kalki’s mother – Vishnu’s final reincarnation – during the end of Kali Yuga.
In this dystopian world, where Supreme Yaskin – a totalitarian god king – rules from the Complex (an inverted-pyramid megastructure towering over the desertified city of Kasi), Commander Manas, Counsellor Bani, and Raiders fiercely protect against any perceived threats, particularly the prophesied arrival of Kalki. Female refugees from Kasi are forcibly taken to the Complex for Project K, an experiment aimed at creating a serum to extend the lifespan of the 200-year-old Yaskin. However, none have survived the procedure. Raia, a young girl disguised as a boy, narrowly evades conscription with help from rebels in the hidden city of Shambhala.
