Keanu (2016)
Keanu (2016) is an American buddy action comedy film directed by Peter Atencio and written by Jordan Peele and Alex Rubens. A notorious group of assassins, known as the ‘Allentown Brothers’, cause chaos at a Mexican cartel’s drug-processing facility, leaving no survivors, including the leader, King Diaz. Amidst the chaos, a precious kitten named Iglesias escapes their clutches. Rell, who was recently dumped, discovers the kitten on his doorstep and names it Keanu. However, two weeks later, after returning from a movie with his cousin Clarence, they find Rell’s home ransacked and Keanu missing. According to their weed dealer Hulka, the ’17th St. Blips’ gang may have been seeking Keanu during their raid. Hulka directs them to a strip club where they encounter Hi-C, a female gangster, and Cheddar, the leader of the Blips gang.
In a case of mistaken identity, Cheddar offers to return Keanu in exchange for Rell and Clarence’s expertise on a drug deal for their new product called ‘Holy Shit’. Rell and Clarence sit tied to chairs, while the Allentown Boys prepare to torture them. Suddenly, Keanu arrives and sets them free. They quickly arm themselves and face off against the approaching Allentown Boys. As they make their escape, they run into the Blips and Cheddar forces them to accompany him to meet with the Mexican drug cartel the following morning. There, they are introduced to King Diaz’s cousin, Bacon Diaz, who offers a deal involving ‘The Allentown Boys’. However, when Bacon demands ‘Iglesias’, Cheddar refuses and a violent showdown ensues between the two groups. In the chaos, Clarence and Rell fight their way out of the mansion in pursuit of Bacon, who has taken Keanu captive.
