Keeping Up with the Joneses (2016)
Keeping Up with the Joneses (2016) is an American action comedy directed by Greg Mottola and distributed by 20th Century Fox. Jeff Gaffney holds a human resources position at MBI, a defense contractor located in Atlanta. Together with his wife Karen, they reside in a desirable cul-de-sac with their two children away at summer camp. The couple becomes acquainted with their new neighbors, Tim and Natalie Jones – Tim being a globetrotting writer interested in glassblowing while Natalie pursues social media consulting, food blogging and charitable work. The seemingly perfect duo exude charm and sophistication as they enthusiastically befriend the Gaffneys. However, Karen grows wary when she catches Tim snooping around Jeff’s den during a neighborhood block party and witnesses what appears to be Natalie engaging in suspicious activity at a nearby café.
Karen tails Natalie to the mall, but their interaction takes a turn when Natalie brings her into a dressing room for some female bonding. Meanwhile, Tim invites Jeff to an unconventional Chinese eatery. As they enjoy snake wine, a severed snake head bites Jeff, putting him in danger until Tim comes to his rescue. Throughout the evening, Tim subtly tries to get Jeff talking about his colleagues at the office. With assistance from Natalie, Tim secretly gains access to the MBI office and reads through Jeff’s emails. Later at their home, Jeff accidentally shatters one of Tim’s glass sculptures, only to reveal a hidden bug among the shards. Karen becomes suspicious of the Joneses and decides to sneak into their house in search of further proof.
