King Solomon's Mines (1985)

King Solomon’s Mines (1985) is an action-packed adventure based on H. Rider Haggard’s famous 1880 novel of the same name. Jesse Huston enlists the help of Allan Quatermain to locate her missing father, Professor Huston. Together with Umbopo, a mysterious companion, they venture into uncharted territory following an allegedly authentic map. However, little do they know that Professor Huston has been taken captive by their rivals – Colonel Bockner, a German military leader, and Dogati, a notorious Turkish slave-trader and adventurer who has been at odds with Quatermain for quite some time. Under duress, Professor Huston is forced to decipher yet another supposedly legitimate map.

Professor Huston, rescued by Quatermain’s group, confirms the reality of the mines and urges them to prevent Bockner and Dogati from finding them. Upon entering the tribal lands of the Kukuana, they are captured by the tribe under control of priestess Gagoola. She has Quatermain hung upside down over crocodiles while her warriors attack. In a display of bravery, Umbopo reveals himself as an exiled tribal chief and true ruler of the Kukuanas. The tribe submits to his leadership, but chaos erupts when Bockner and Dogati launch an attack on the village. Amidst this turmoil, Gagoola seizes Jesse and takes off into the depths of Breasts of Sheba – where the mines are located. Quatermain and Umbopo set off after them with Bockner and Dogati in hot pursuit.
