Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (2024), an American sci-fi action film directed by Wes Ball and written by Josh Friedman, serves as a standalone sequel to War for the Planet of the Apes (2017) and is the fourth installment in the franchise. Many years after Caesar’s death, apes have formed various clans while humans have regressed into feral beings. Noa, a young chimpanzee from a clan that practices falconry, is getting ready for his coming-of-age ceremony with his close friends Anaya and Soona. However, during an encounter with a human scavenger who follows him home, Noa accidentally breaks his eagle egg before the scavenger escapes. In his search for a replacement egg, Noa stumbles upon a group of ape raiders who use electric weapons. As he hides from them, they follow his horse back to his clan’s village.
In a frantic rush to get home, Noa discovers that his village is on fire and sees Sylva, the leader of the raiders, kill his father before dropping him from a high platform. Left for dead, Noa awakens to find his clan missing. After burying his father, he embarks on a rescue mission. Along the way, he is accompanied by Raka, an orangutan who enlightens Noa with Caesar’s teachings. While being pursued by a human scavenger, Raka extends her generosity to offer food and a blanket to their new companion, whom she names Nova. When the trio encounters a band of feral humans, they are suddenly attacked by Sylva’s raiders. Fortunately, Noa and Raka manage to save Nova, who reveals herself as Mae and shares that the raiders have taken Noa’s clan to a settlement near an old human vault by the beach.
