Premiering on NBC on April 1, 2021, Law & Order: Organized Crime (2021–2024) is an American crime drama television series and the seventh installment in the Law & Order franchise. Christopher Meloni reprises his role as Elliot Stabler from Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in this spin-off. The show follows a “single-arc” storyline that spans multiple episodes. Originally planned to be introduced in the season finale of SVU’s twenty-first season, Stabler’s family was set to return, revealing their whereabouts after Meloni’s departure from the series. However, when asked if this would happen in the season twenty-second premiere instead, SVU showrunner Warren Leight indicated that Elliot will indeed make an appearance. While Craig Gore was initially set to write for the series, he was dismissed by creator Dick Wolf on June 2, 2020, due to controversial Facebook posts regarding looters and the curfew enforced during protests over George Floyd’s death.
After facing a heartbreaking tragedy, Elliot Stabler rejoins the NYPD to combat organized crime. But upon his return, he realizes that both the city and police department have undergone significant changes in the past ten years. As he navigates a criminal justice system at a pivotal time, we will witness Stabler’s quest for redemption and personal growth. At the same time, he will head a newly formed elite task force dedicated to dismantling the formidable criminal empires of the city piece by piece.
