Legion (2017–2019) is a superhero TV series on FX, created by Noah Hawley and based on the Marvel character David Haller. It was produced by FX Productions in association with Marvel Television and takes place in an alternate timeline of the X-Men films. From a young age, Haller has been diagnosed with schizophrenia and has been in various psychiatric hospitals since then. His adoptive sister, Amy Haller, committed him to the latest facility. However, during his stay, he meets fellow patient Syd Barrett, which leads him to question whether his mental illness is all there is to him. Unfortunately, an event involving his friend Lenore “Lenny” Busker resulted in her death. As a result, Division 3 – a government agency – hunts down Haller in the first season. But he is saved by Syd and other mutants at a facility called Summerland who reveal that he also possesses psychic mutant abilities. With their help, Haller discovers that his mind is infected by another psychic mutant known as Amahl Farouk or Shadow King. Eventually, he learns how to expel the villain from his mind.
