Lookin' to Get Out (1982)
Lookin’ to Get Out (1982) is a humorous American movie helmed by Hal Ashby and penned by Al Schwartz and Jon Voight, who also takes on the lead role. While playing poker in New York City, Alex Kovac loses $10,000 to fellow gamblers Joey and Harry. In a desperate attempt to settle the debt, Alex convinces his friend Jerry Feldman to join him on a trip to Las Vegas with the goal of winning the same amount. However, upon their arrival at the casino, they discover another individual by the name of Jerry Feldman who is a frequent visitor there. Fortunately for them, this results in Jerry being granted $10,000 from the casino without any inquiries.
In addition to the complimentary room, there are other benefits included. One of Alex’s acquaintances, Smitty the waiter, is skilled at counting cards and is given financial support by their group to play in a high-stakes blackjack game. Patti Warner, a former partner of Alex’s, is now involved with the casino’s owner. Despite their lingering attraction, winning $500,000 at the casino brings trouble not only from the establishment but also from Joey and Harry, who have arrived in Las Vegas seeking reimbursement or revenge.
