Love Me If You Dare (2003) is a French romantic comedy-drama film directed by Yann Samuell. The story follows the unlikely friendship between Sophie, a young girl being bullied, and Julien, a kind-hearted boy. After helping her retrieve her belongings from bullies, Julien gives Sophie a tin box as a token of their newfound bond. In return, he asks to borrow it back occasionally, which she agrees to. However, when Julien requests the box back immediately after giving it to her, Sophie challenges him to prove its significance. Without hesitation, Julien disengages the bus handbrake and their game begins – with each dare completed resulting in the box changing hands.

A strong bond forms between a boy from a well-off Belgian family and a girl from humble beginnings in Poland. Growing up, they cause trouble at school, create chaos at a wedding, and challenge each other to silly tasks. As they enter their teen years, their love lives suffer as they continue to push the limits in their dares. Despite any punishment that may come their way, they remain fixated on seeking thrills. Unbeknownst to them, their friendship slowly blossoms into something more. However, they refuse to acknowledge it and instead turn to even riskier dares. In adulthood, Julien shocks Sophie by expressing his desire to marry someone else. The situation intensifies when Sophie interrupts Julien’s wedding and faces near-death during another dare.
