Luck (2022)
Luck (2022) is an upcoming animated fantasy comedy film, helmed by director Peggy Holmes and co-directed by Javier Abad. Written by Kiel Murray, with a story by Murray, Jonathan Aibel, and Glenn Berger, the film is based on an original concept from the creative minds of Rebeca Carrasco, Juan De Dios, and Julián Romero. The movie follows Sam Greenfield, an unlucky young woman who has recently been forced to leave her foster home. Her friend Hazel, who is hoping to be adopted soon, is devastated by the news. One night, after sharing a panini with a black cat, Sam discovers a penny that she plans to give to Hazel for her collection of lucky items in hopes of helping her get adopted. To her surprise, the penny brings Sam good luck. However, she accidentally loses it down a toilet the next day. As Sam laments her mistake, she crosses paths with the same cat from the previous night. She confides in him and learns that he needs the penny for traveling purposes. The cat introduces himself as Bob and reveals that he will be banished if word gets out about him losing the penny. Bob borrows a button from Sam to disguise it as a penny while she sneaks into the Land of Luck using clothes belonging to Bob’s personal leprechaun, Gerry. During their journey, Sam discovers that a dragon manages the good luck, while bad luck is handled under the Land of Luck. After a mishap at the Penny depot reveals Sam’s true identity to Gerry, Gerry uses a drone to retrieve the missing penny from Earth. However, the drone gets lost in the In-Between, which is overseen by a unicorn named Jeff. Jeff operates the Bad Luck Apparat, a machine that prevents bad luck specks from sticking and feeds into another machine called the Randomizer, which sends both good and bad luck onto Earth. Thankfully, Jeff informs them that he has found and returned the penny to the depot. Despite this setback, Sam remains determined and decides to seek out the dragon for another penny.
