Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa (2008)

Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa (2008) is a comedic animated film from DreamWorks Animation SKG and PDI/DreamWorks, distributed by Paramount Pictures. In Kenya, Zuba, the alpha lion, attempts to teach his son Alakay how to fight, but Alakay’s true passion lies in dancing. However, rival lion Makunga challenges Zuba for his title. During their confrontation, poachers capture Alakay and place him in a crate. Zuba pursues them but is injured by a gunshot to the ear. The crate eventually finds its way to New York City where the young lion is renamed Alex and grows up at the Central Park Zoo. Here he meets his lifelong friends: Marty, Melman, and Gloria. After their previous adventure in Madagascar, the zoo animals—including Alex, Marty, Melman, Gloria, the penguins, chimpanzees—prepare for their return to New York on a damaged airplane piloted by the penguins with King Julien,Maurice,and Mort onboard as well.

After the plane runs out of fuel and crash lands in continental Africa, the animals find themselves at a watering hole on a nature reserve. Excitement fills the air as they meet others of their species. Alex is thrilled to reunite with his parents and shares stories about being ‘the king of New York’. Marty blends in seamlessly with a herd of zebras who are identical to him. Melman, known for his hypochondria, becomes distressed when he realizes there are no doctors on the reserve. However, he is soon appointed as the witch doctor by his fellow giraffes. Gloria, seeking love, catches the eye of the smooth-talking hippo Moto Moto. Meanwhile, the resourceful penguins enlist chimpanzees from Mason and Phil’s team to help them repair the plane. They also cleverly gather parts by stealing vehicles from unsuspecting humans on safari. Nana, a tough woman who previously attacked Alex at Grand Central Station, takes charge and helps them all survive in the wild.
