Masters of Horror (2005–2007) is an anthology television series on Showtime, crafted by director Mick Garris. The show brings together some of the finest horror film writers and directors, curated by genre veteran Mick Garris. This series marks the first time that such esteemed names have collaborated on a project, with each season featuring thirteen one-hour films.
The highly acclaimed U.S. debut of the series was on October 28, 2005 with the premiere episode Incident On and Off a Mountain Road, co-written and directed by Don Coscarelli and based on Joe R. Lansdale’s short story. New episodes aired every Friday at 10 p.m. EST during the two-season run of the show. Following an anthology format, each episode showcased a one-hour film from a renowned horror director. In 2009, Chiller added the show to their Sunday evening lineup, while Reelz Channel also began airing edited (yet still TV-MA) episodes with commercials in 2010.
