Men in Black II (2002) is a comedic sci-fi film based on the popular Marvel Comics series. It follows Agent J, who has been with the MIB for five years and has risen to the top of his field. However, he has developed a tendency to neuralyze partners he believes are not equipped to handle the job emotionally. When a murder involving an alien named Ben occurs at a pizza place, waitress Laura Vasquez reveals that the culprits are Serleena, a shape-shifting Kylothian posing as a lingerie model, and her two-headed assistant Scrad and Charlie. According to Laura, they were after something known as the Light of Zartha. Despite MIB protocol, J becomes strongly infatuated with Laura and chooses not to erase her memories using neuralyzation. J discovers that the Light of Zartha remains shrouded in mystery, despite its incredible power.
While investigating the recent crime, all evidence points towards J’s former partner and mentor, Agent K. This comes as a surprise, as K retired five years ago and was neuralyzed, leaving him with no memory of his time with MIB. In Truro, Massachusetts, where K now works as a postmaster, J convinces him of his past by exposing the true identities of his fellow postal workers – aliens in disguise. Upon returning to New York City, Serleena and her accomplices Scrad and Charlie launch an unexpected attack on MIB headquarters. However, thanks to Jack Jeebs’ illegal deneuralyzer found in his basement, K is able to regain his memories just in time. Unfortunately, he realizes that he had intentionally neuralyzed himself years ago to forget all knowledge of the Light of Zartha. And despite his efforts to leave himself undisclosed clues for the future, those memories still evade him.
