Mirror Mirror (2012)
The American fantasy comedy film, Mirror Mirror (2012), is based on the classic fairy tale Snow White by the Brothers Grimm. The story opens with narration from Clementianna, a beautiful but wicked enchantress who married the widower king. However, the king never returned after leaving to fight an invading evil, and Clementianna becomes queen in his absence. She rules the land while keeping her stepdaughter, Princess Snow White, confined to the palace. Ten years later, Snow White is now a young woman determined to explore her kingdom. She sneaks out of the palace and meets Prince Andrew Alcott of Valencia in the forest after he has been robbed by dwarfs.
Instantly smitten with each other, they arrive in town only to find destitute townspeople due to Clementianna’s heavy taxation. Meanwhile, Clementianna is introduced to Alcott and immediately falls for him, deciding to marry him for his wealth to solve the kingdom’s financial troubles. To impress him, she throws a grand ball. Little does she know, Snow White sneaks in and plans to ask Alcott for help in reclaiming her rightful throne and restoring the kingdom. However, Clementianna catches Alcott dancing with Snow White and becomes jealous. She orders her servant, Brighton, to take Snow White into the forest and feed her to the Beast. After escaping from the Beast, Snow White collapses at the dwarfs’ hideout where they kindly take her in.
