Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2018)

Mission: Impossible – Fallout (2018), an American action spy film written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie, follows IMF agent Ethan Hunt as he races against time to stop a terror-for-hire group, the Apostles, from acquiring nuclear bombs. Two years after their leader Solomon Lane is captured, the Syndicate has reorganized and recruited extremist John Lark to carry out their plan of dismantling the existing world order. When Ethan’s attempt to retrieve the plutonium cores in Berlin fails and his team member Luther Stickell is taken hostage, he chooses to save his teammate but loses the cores to the Apostles. In an effort to obtain valuable information about Lark’s bombs, Ethan teams up with fellow agents Benji Dunn and later on, CIA agent August Walker at the request of CIA director Erika Sloane. Walker is given free rein to complete the mission at any cost.

Ethan and Walker successfully infiltrate a Parisian nightclub to intercept Lark’s planned purchase of cores from arms dealer Alanna Mitsopolis. They come face to face with their suspect, but things take an unexpected turn when Ethan is nearly killed and MI6 agent Ilsa Faust jumps in to eliminate Lark. Assumed to be Lark, Ethan meets with Mitsopolis who gifts him one core, explaining that the rest will be delivered once he carries out an attack on a police convoy and frees its prisoner, Lane. However, Ethan takes matters into his own hands and uses a risky maneuver to protect the convoy from Mitsopolis’s mercenaries, leading the police away while his team secures Lane and stops an assassination attempt by Ilsa. When they reconvene, Ilsa reveals that her true mission was to assassinate Lane on orders from MI6 in order to prove her loyalty after working undercover as a Syndicate agent. However, she ultimately defied orders in order to protect Ethan. Meanwhile, Walker provides Sloane with evidence that exposes Ethan’s true identity as Lark.
