Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation (2015)

Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation (2015) is a fast-paced American action spy film written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie, collaborating with Drew Pearce on the script. In the film, IMF Agent Ethan Hunt thwarts The Syndicate’s attempt to transport nerve gas, a group of rebel field operatives from different intelligence agencies whom he has been pursuing. During his briefing at an IMF facility in London, Ethan is ambushed by The Syndicate itself, revealing that they have infiltrated both him and the organization. As he falls unconscious from being exposed to gas, he witnesses one of his colleagues being murdered by a man with blonde hair and glasses. Meanwhile, CIA Director Alan Hunley successfully persuades a Senate committee to disband the IMF and merge it into the CIA due to recent destructive incidents in Russia. Former IMF agents Benji Dunn and William Brandt are then recruited by the CIA but are subject to tight surveillance and strict security measures due to Hunley’s suspicions about The Syndicate’s existence.

Ethan wakes up in a torture chamber under the control of former KGB member Janik ‘Bone Doctor’ Vinter. With aid from an enigmatic woman, he manages to flee. Six months later, as a wanted criminal, Hunt covertly sends vital intel about The Syndicate to Benji and also secures him tickets to the Vienna State Opera’s performance of Turandot. Upon Benji’s arrival in Vienna, Ethan enlists his help in tracking down the blond man responsible for killing an IMF operative in London. At the opera house, they come across the aforementioned woman, who is later revealed to be MI6 undercover agent Ilsa Faust, along with several other Syndicate members plotting to assassinate the Chancellor of Austria. Ethan foils their plan and escapes with Faust, only to witness the Chancellor being blown up by a car bomb. Pursued by members of The Syndicate, Ethan and Benji are compelled to leave Faust behind in order to protect her cover.
