Mojave Moon (1996) is an American road movie written by Leonard Glasser and directed by Kevin Dowling. While dining at his favorite restaurant, Al McCord encounters Ellie, a young woman searching for a ride to her mother Julie’s home in the Mojave Desert. Despite the presence of Julie’s volatile boyfriend Boyd, Al finds himself drawn to the free-spirited woman. As they journey through the desert, strange events occur and it falls upon Al to make sense of them. When their car gets a flat tire, Al discovers a body in the trunk – Ellie’s boyfriend Kaiser, whom he had not yet met. Seeking assistance at a nearby gas station, Al narrowly avoids trouble with the police before encountering an attempted robbery. Luckily, Al manages to escape unharmed amidst the chaos caused by the trigger-happy gas station employee.

After returning to his hometown, Al is paid a visit by both Ellie and Julie. Little does he know, his car is being stolen during this time. As they step outside, they spot Boyd and make a hasty escape to a nearby motel. However, just as Al sets out to search for his car, Boyd appears at the motel and abducts the women, taking them back to Mojave where he locks them up in a shed. In an effort to rescue the women, Al enlists the help of his actor friend Sal but their plan goes awry when they are overpowered by Boyd. Meanwhile, Kaiser manages to arrive undetected at Mojave and witnesses as Boyd drives off with Al, Sal, Julie and Ellie on top of his truck with the intention of pushing their car over the edge of a quarry. Thankfully, they all manage to escape unharmed while Boyd meets his demise in a dramatic explosion.
