Monsters (1988–1991), an American syndicated horror anthology series, aired from 1988 to 1991 and was later rerun on the Sci-Fi Channel in the 1990s. It was created by producer Richard P. Rubinstein and his company Laurel Entertainment, who previously worked on Tales from the Darkside. While Tales sometimes delved into science fiction and fantasy, Monsters focused solely on horror. Each episode centers around a different monster (with few exceptions), ranging from an animatronic puppet on a children’s show to weapon-wielding lab rats.

In the opening sequence of the program, a monster family living in the suburbs searches for something to watch on TV. After some deliberation, they settle on their favorite show, Monsters. Throughout each standalone episode, a variety of monsters are featured, ranging from terrifying man-eating plants to friendly extraterrestrials. Although often categorized as a horror anthology, Monsters primarily revolves around its eponymous creatures, regardless of how they are portrayed on screen. According to Richard P. Rubinstein, producer and creator of the show, the goal was to strike a balance between entertainment and terror by showcasing mythical monsters inspired by folklore and fairy tales instead of more realistic threats like serial killers. The credits for each episode included a dedication to creative consultant Tom Allen, who unfortunately passed away during production. The Moving Finger (April 26th, 1991), based on a story by Stephen King.
