The Australian film, Monsters of Man (2020), contains graphic violence and potentially offensive themes. It follows a group of killer robots unleashed in the jungle as part of a military experiment. While the robots may be intriguing and the movie explores ideas of responsibility and life, it is lengthy, violent, and not particularly inclusive towards non-White-male characters. Many individuals meet their demise in shocking and grisly ways through heavy gunfire, explosions, and even a robot stepping on someone’s head. Other instances of violence include a man stabbing a woman to death. However, despite its brutality, there is some depth to the portrayal of death; for example, a child grieves over his deceased parents and other characters mourn those lost. Profanity is heavily used throughout the film with frequent use of words like ‘f–k’ and ‘s–t’. Additionally, there is some mild flirtation and kissing between characters as well as scenes featuring cigarette smoking.
A robotics company joins forces with a corrupt CIA agent who is conducting an illicit military operation. The objective: to deploy four prototype robots into a drug manufacturing camp located in the Golden Triangle, where their presence will not be noticed. This mission serves as a test for the robotics company to demonstrate their capabilities and secure a profitable military contract. However, six well-intentioned doctors are unwittingly caught in the crossfire and must now engage in a perilous game of chase as they become the primary targets.
