Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle (2018)

Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle (2018) is an adventure drama film, directed by Andy Serkis. The screenplay, written by Callie Kloves, is based on tales from All the Mowgli Stories by Rudyard Kipling. In the Indian jungle, the wise Indian python seer Kaa witnesses Shere Khan, a cruel Bengal tiger, breaking ‘jungle law’ by attacking a human family. After finding a surviving infant, Bagheera takes him to an Indian wolf family led by Nisha and Vihaan. However, their presence is noticed by Tabaqui, Shere Khan’s hyena sidekick. The young boy – now known as Mowgli – is brought before the wolf council with Bagheera’s help. Despite Shere Khan’s threats to kill the child, Akela asserts that he is under their protection. As time passes, Mowgli grows up with the wolves and eventually crosses paths with Shere Khan once again, who has been causing trouble with a nearby human village by killing their livestock.
Mowgli falls into a tiger trap set by the villagers, but is rescued by Hathi, an Indian elephant missing half a tusk. Bagheera informs Mowgli of his human identity, yet he remains determined to complete ‘the Running’ – the test for full membership in the pack. Despite urging from Bagheera to leave the jungle for the safety of the village, Mowgli instead observes from a distance and discovers fire. During the Running, Bagheera challenges the young wolves while Mowgli utilizes his skill of climbing and running upright to take the lead. In an effort to protect him, Bagheera intervenes unfairly and is then confronted by Baloo. Later on, Mowgli is taken captive by the Bandar-log monkey tribe and delivered to Shere Khan; however, Baloo and Bagheera arrive just in time to save him.
