The action-packed crime drama, NCIS: New Orleans (2014–2021) premiered on CBS in 2014, following the twelfth season of its predecessor NCIS. It centers around a team of fictional NCIS Special Agents, led by Supervisory Special Agent Dwayne Cassius Pride, stationed in Louisiana. Their focus is on crimes involving Navy and Marine Corps personnel in their jurisdiction, spanning from the Mississippi River to the Texas Panhandle. Initially working with Pride are Christopher LaSalle, a former sheriff’s deputy brought on after Hurricane Katrina, Meredith Brody, a seasoned Special Agent Afloat who seeks a fresh start in New Orleans, and Dr. Loretta Wade, the Jefferson Parish coroner. They are aided by forensics specialist Sebastian Lund and computer expert Patton Plame, who was once a hacker before joining NCIS. In season 2, ATF Special Agent Sonja Percy joins the team after previously assisting them during a case involving ‘Baitfish’.

At the close of season 2, an incident involving a domestic terrorist attack and a corrupt Department of Homeland Security Special Agent sparks a backlash that ultimately results in Brody’s departure from NCIS at the beginning of season 3. In response, FBI Special Agent Tammy Gregorio is dispatched to investigate Pride and his team. Despite being let go from the FBI due to a mistake made during a crucial drug cartel case, she eventually joins NCIS as part of their team. Additionally, Sebastian, who has developed an interest in field work, completes training at FLETC and becomes a Forensics Agent during the season. Towards the end of season 4, Percy leaves the unit after accepting an offer to join the FBI. Shortly after this change, Pride is shot by the vengeful wife of an assassin he had previously encountered in season 3. After narrowly surviving, he returns in season 5 and ultimately decides to take on a new role as Regional Special-Agent-In-Charge for a change of pace. His replacement is Supervisory Special Agent Hannah Khoury, a former intelligence agent seeking stability and time to reconnect with her loved ones.

During season 6, Khoury is demoted from team leader due to breaking protocol during a joint-operation with the FBI, resulting in Pride reclaiming his former position. However, Khoury remains as second-in-command. Meanwhile, LaSalle’s investigation into his brother Cade’s disappearance and eventual murder leads to his own death at the hands of the same killer. After being mourned and avenged, he is replaced by Special Agent Quentin Carter, a notorious loner who gradually warms up to the team. Season 7 sees New Orleans facing uncertainty amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to restore social justice, JAG Commander Rita Devereaux, Pride’s long-time girlfriend and an experienced attorney, joins the D.A.’s office while Pride joins a task-force established by the mayor. Eventually, the two tie the knot in the series finale.
