Nona (2021), an American computer-animated short film written and directed by Louis Gonzales and produced by Pixar Animation Studios, distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. She is engrossed in her favorite show, E.W.W. Smashdown Wrestling, a beloved pastime she shared with her late husband. Suddenly, there’s a knock at the door and Nona discovers her granddaughter Renee has been dropped off by her son. Despite trying to continue watching, Renee becomes an obstacle. Nona attempts to distract her with crayons, Legos, and her dog but Renee persists in interrupting Nona’s viewing. Eventually, Renee catches sight of Nona’s show and mimics it by leaping from the stairs. In a panic to catch her, Nona accidentally topples over the television causing damage.
Because of the disconnectedness Nona experienced while watching E.W.W. Smashdown Wrestling with her deceased spouse, she becomes overwhelmed with emotion. Recognizing her distress, Renee takes on a wrestler persona and they indulge in a shared fantasy of play-fighting. As they joke and bond, the scene shifts to Nona resting on the sofa with a dozing dog and Renee perched on top, watching her beloved show Kitty Kitty Dance Party. Attempting to grab the remote, Nona accidentally drops it to the ground, causing frustration for both women.
