Ocean’s Thirteen (2007) is an American heist comedy film directed by Steven Soderbergh and written by Brian Koppelman and David Levien. Businessman Reuben Tishkoff takes on a new project, building a hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip, against the advice of his friend and former criminal associate Danny Ocean. However, things take a turn for the worse when investor and casino mogul Willy Bank strongarms Reuben into giving up his ownership stake. After suffering a heart attack, Reuben is left bedridden. In an attempt to make things right, Ocean appeals to Bank, relying on their shared history in Las Vegas and Bank’s connection to Frank Sinatra. But Bank refuses and moves forward with constructing the hotel, which he renames ‘The Bank’. In order to seek revenge for their friend, Ocean assembles his team to take down Bank on opening night of the hotel.
Danny and his crew have a plan to rig the casino, but they are facing a challenge in the form of the Greco – an advanced computer system that monitors gamblers’ physical reactions and can identify cheating. In order to outsmart the Greco, they have acquired a magnetron disguised as a cell phone, which they plan to give to Bank. They have also obtained a drilling machine from the Channel Tunnel project, which they will use to create a simulated earthquake that will cause an evacuation of the casino on opening night. Their strategy involves having Bank unknowingly disrupt the Greco with his new phone, while their rigged machines and paid-off dealers work in their favor. However, just before opening night, their drilling machine malfunctions. Desperate for a solution, Danny’s team turns to Terry Benedict – their previous target – for financial assistance in purchasing a replacement.
