Set in 1969 Hollywood, Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood (2019) is a comedy-drama film written and directed by Quentin Tarantino. The story follows Rick Dalton, a former star of the Western show Bounty Law, as he faces the decline of his career. After only landing small roles as TV villains, Dalton’s agent Marvin Schwarz suggests he make Spaghetti Westerns in Italy – an option that Dalton looks down on. His closest companion is Cliff Booth, a war veteran who serves as his stunt double, personal assistant, and driver. Booth lives in a trailer with his pit bull Brandy and struggles to find work due to rumors surrounding the death of his wife. In an effort to revive his fame, Dalton makes an attempt to befriend Sharon Tate and her husband, director Roman Polanski, who happen to live next door.

As Booth adjusts the TV antenna on Dalton’s roof, he spots a hippie man approaching the Polanski residence. The man is Charles Manson, and he claims to be searching for Terry Melcher, a former resident. Jay Sebring, Tate’s friend, turns him away. On his way to Spahn Ranch, where Booth used to do stunt work in old Western films, he picks up a hitchhiker nicknamed ‘Pussycat’. At the ranch, Booth suspects that the group of hippies living there may be taking advantage of George Spahn, the elderly owner. Despite checking on him, Spahn brushes off any concerns due to his poor eyesight. Booth catches one of the ranch hippies, ‘Clem’, puncturing his tire and forces him to change it. When ‘Tex’ comes to handle the situation, Booth has already left.
