P.S. I Love You (2007)
P.S. I Love You (2007) is a romantic film directed by Richard LaGravenese, based on the novel of the same name by Cecelia Ahern. The story follows Holly and Gerry, a couple living in Manhattan who are deeply in love, but occasionally have disagreements. Tragically, Gerry passes away from a brain tumor one winter, leaving Holly to grieve and distance herself from her loved ones. On her 30th birthday, Holly receives a cake and cassette from Gerry containing heartfelt messages signed with ‘P.S. I Love You’. These messages were arranged by Gerry to be delivered after his death, providing Holly with encouragement to move forward. Despite Holly’s mother Patricia disapproving of their marriage when they were young, she worries that these messages will keep Holly tied to the past. As time passes and the seasons change, Gerry’s thoughtful messages continue to uplift Holly’s spirits. Before his passing, Gerry also planned for Holly and her two closest friends Denise and Sharon to travel to his homeland of Ireland.
Upon arriving at a beautiful house in the Irish countryside, each friend discovers a personal letter from Gerry; Denise is asked to take Holly to his favorite pub. During her stay, Holly crosses paths with William, a singer who strongly reminds her of Gerry. He performs a heartfelt rendition of ‘Galway Girl’ just for her. The song brings up overwhelming emotions and Holly walks out, realizing it was the same one Gerry sang to her when they first met. While out on the lake fishing, the women accidentally lose the oars to their boat, leaving them stranded. As they wait for assistance, Sharon shares that she is pregnant and Denise reveals her upcoming marriage. This news causes Holly to spiral back into an emotional downfall and retreat into herself once again. Luckily, William comes to their rescue and is invited to stay the night at their cabin due to the rain. Unable to resist their undeniable feelings for each other, William and Holly end up having sex.
