Paperman (2012)
Paperman (2012) is a romantic comedy short film created by Walt Disney Animation Studios. In 1940s New York City, a young accountant named George is struck by a flying piece of paper while waiting on an elevated train platform. The paper is being chased by a woman named Meg who lost it to a gust of wind from a passing train. After another gust of wind dislodges one of the papers from George’s folder and blows it onto Meg’s face, leaving behind a lipstick smudge, he becomes enchanted by her beauty. But his focus on the kiss mark causes him to miss her boarding the train. Disappointed, he arrives at work and finds the same lipstick-marked paper on his desk. As he gazes at it, he notices Meg in an office building across the street with an open window.
Despite his various attempts to get her attention, George’s boss remains unyielding and annoyed. First, he tries waving his arms, which fails. Then, he resorts to making paper airplanes from a nearby stack of papers and throwing them out the window one by one. However, his endeavors are met with failure and disapproving glares from his boss. In a last-ditch effort, George even uses a lipstick-marked paper but is once again unsuccessful when the wind blows it away. Frustrated and determined, he rushes out of the office after Meg but gets lost in the busy street traffic. Disheartened, he only manages to find the final lipstick-marked airplane before angrily launching it into the sky.
