Passion (2012)

Passion (2012) is a film, both written and directed by Brian De Palma. In the movie, Christine is an American advertising executive working in Germany, collaborating with her protégé Isabelle on a new smartphone ad campaign. Despite being involved in a secret affair with Christine’s boyfriend Dirk, Isabelle comes up with a highly successful marketing concept. However, when Christine takes credit for it, Isabelle is disappointed but eventually makes peace with her boss after hearing about the tragic loss of her twin sister. Acting upon Dani’s suggestion, Isabelle shares her own version of the ad online, which quickly gains popularity. This infuriates Christine who seeks revenge by threatening to release a sex tape that features Isabelle and Dirk.

After a heated incident, Isabelle’s car is damaged in the company’s parking garage. Security footage of the incident is shared by Christine with the rest of the company, leading to Isabelle feeling humiliated and falling into a depressive state. This eventually leads to her abusing pills. In an attempt to hurt Isabelle further, Christine tries to get Dani fired and even threatens her with a typed letter promising revenge. However, after Christine’s unexpected death, Isabelle is arrested for murder, while under the influence of drugs. Evidence such as her confessions and a note seeking revenge written on her computer, along with fibres matching a scarf that was seen on Isabelle’s person at the time of the incident, results in her being charged with murder.
