Perry Mason (2020–2023), an American period drama on HBO, was created by Rolin Jones and Ron Fitzgerald. It premiered on June 21, 2020, starring Matthew Rhys as the iconic character from Erle Stanley Gardner’s novels. The series was renewed for a second season by HBO in July of the same year. However, showrunners Jones and Fitzgerald left the project in April 2021 and were replaced by Jack Amiel and Michael Begler. The second season aired on March 6, 2023. Praised for its cinematography, production design, and performances, particularly Rhys’, both seasons received positive critical reviews. Unfortunately, in June 2023, it was announced that the series would not return for a third season and was canceled after two successful seasons.
