Pet Sematary II (1992) is a chilling American supernatural horror film directed by Mary Lambert and written by Richard Outten. Taking place several years after the first movie, it follows 13-year-old Jeff Matthews and his veterinarian father Chase as they relocate to Ludlow, Maine – the hometown of Jeff’s late mother, Renee. In this new town, Jeff meets the aggressive sheriff, Gus Gilbert, and his stepson Drew, who is subjected to Gus’ relentless mistreatment. Unfortunately for Jeff, he also encounters local bully Clyde Parker who shares with him the story of the Creed family and the legend surrounding the Miꞌkmaq burial ground. When Drew enlists Jeff’s help in burying their dog at the burial site to test the rumors of its supposed power to bring back the dead, things take a terrifying turn.

After Zowie’s unexpected return from death, he displays an uncharacteristic ferocity. Chase takes care of the dog’s gunshot wound, but it stubbornly refuses to heal. Even more peculiar is the absence of a heartbeat in Zowie. In order to get to the bottom of things, Chase sends a blood sample to be analyzed at a lab. The results reveal that Zowie’s cells have completely deteriorated and are indistinguishable from those of a deceased canine. On Halloween, Jeff and Drew join some local boys for a terrifying night of ghost stories at Pet Semetery. Despite being grounded, Drew’s mother allows him to go and Gus becomes furious when he finds out. He storms over to the cemetery and disrupts the festivities by attacking his stepson with a grave marker. Suddenly, out of nowhere, Zowie appears and fatally mauls Gus. As a result, the boys have no choice but to bury Gus at the Indian burial ground.
