Planet Terror (2007)

Planet Terror (2007), an American action comedy horror film written and directed by Robert Rodriguez, is set in Texas. It follows the survivors of a biochemical outbreak as they face off against zombie-like creatures and a corrupt military unit. In rural Texas, go-go dancer Cherry Darling runs into her enigmatic ex-boyfriend El Wray at the Bone Shack, owned by brothers J.T. and Sheriff Hague. At the same time, demented Lt. Muldoon and his team strike a deal with chemical engineer Abby for large amounts of DC2, a deadly biochemical agent. When Muldoon discovers that Abby has an additional supply, he attempts to capture her, causing the gas to be released into the air and transforming most of the town’s residents into mutated zombies. The infected people are treated at a local hospital by Dr. William Block and his dissatisfied, unfaithful, and bisexual anesthesiologist wife, Dakota.

Random attacks occur along the highway, causing El Wray and Cherry to lose control of their vehicle. In the aftermath, several zombies target Cherry’s right leg. At the hospital, Tammy, a former lover of Dakota, is present and recognized by Block. When he realizes that Dakota was planning to leave him for Tammy, he repeatedly stabs her hands with anesthetic syringe needles to render them useless before locking her in a supply closet. Sheriff Hague detains El Wray based on their past encounters. As more patients transform into zombies at the hospital, El Wray escapes and makes his way back to Cherry’s side. Using a wooden table leg as a makeshift replacement for her lost limb, they fight their way out of the chaotic hospital scene. Meanwhile, Dakota manages to flee in her car while Block becomes infected like many others. In the end, Cherry and El Wray find refuge at the Bone Shack amidst all the chaos around them.
