Point Break (2015)
Point Break (2015) is an action-packed thriller helmed by director and cinematographer Ericson Core and penned by screenwriter Kurt Wimmer. The film follows the journey of Johnny Utah, a thrill-seeking athlete, who tragically loses his friend Jeff during a bike ride through treacherous terrain. Seven years later, Utah has joined the FBI as a trainee. During a briefing on a daring heist involving diamonds and parachutes in Mumbai, he realizes that a similar crime has taken place in Mexico’s Cave of Swallows, where millions of dollars were stolen before the perpetrators vanished without a trace. After conducting extensive research, Utah determines that these robberies are connected to the Ozaki 8 – a series of eight extreme challenges in honor of nature’s forces. With three already completed, Utah predicts that the thieves will next attempt to conquer a rare sea wave phenomenon in France.
After presenting his analysis, Utah is sent undercover to France with field agent Pappas. With the help of others, he attempts to surf a tall tube wave, but finds himself struggling when another surfer is already riding it. Despite this setback, Utah bravely continues on and ends up getting pulled into the wave and passing out. Luckily, the other surfer comes to his rescue and brings him back to consciousness. Utah soon finds himself aboard a yacht with the surfer, Bodhi, accompanied by his comrades Roach, Chowder, and Grommet. While enjoying the company of a girl named Samsara, Utah discovers that the group will be heading to an abandoned train station in Paris. There, Bodhi puts him through an initiation fight before welcoming him into their group. They then embark on their next challenge in the Alps: wingsuit flying through ‘The Life of Wind’ cliffs. After successfully completing this feat, they all spend time together with Samsara before moving on to their next adventure.
