Pride and Glory (2008)
Pride and Glory (2008), directed by Gavin O’Connor, is an American crime drama that follows the Tierney family. Patriarch Francis Tierney Sr., who serves as Assistant Chief of the New York City Police Department (NYPD), is joined by his wife Maureen, son Francis Jr. and daughter-in-law Abby, along with their three kids Caitlin, Francis III, and Bailey. The family also includes daughter Megan and her husband Jimmy Egan, along with their two children Shannon and Matthew. The 31st Precinct is in good hands with Deputy Inspector Franny at the helm, while his brother Ray works in the Missing Persons Squad after recovering from an injury sustained during an arrest. Jimmy’s leadership on the city-league football team brings pride to the NYPD. However, amidst the celebrations, a tragedy unfolds as four officers from Franny’s precinct are killed while responding to a ‘shots fired’ call at Angel Tezo’s apartment in Washington Heights.
In order to get to the bottom of this gruesome crime, Francis Sr. convinces Ray to join a special task force dedicated to solving the case. Jimmy and his fellow patrol officers, including Kenny Dugan, Reuben ‘Sandy’ Santiago, and Eddie Carbone, come across an abandoned cab that Tezo had fled in. Unfortunately, they discover the deceased cab driver inside. As part of a corrupt group within Franny’s precinct, the four officers, who are also deceased, follow Jimmy’s lead and destroy any evidence by burning the cab and the victim’s body. They then shift their focus to finding Tezo before Ray and his task force can track him down. Later on, Ray informs Franny that one of their own policemen with the name of Sandy was responsible for tipping off Tezo about their planned raid. During a confrontation with Franny, Santiago admits to his actions and expresses surprise that Franny had been unaware of what was happening within their precinct.
