Prisoners (2013)
In Pennsylvania, the Dover and Birch families celebrate Thanksgiving together. After dinner, girls Anna Dover and Joy Birch go missing. Detective Loki responds to the police call and arrests a man named Alex Jones. During interrogation, Loki realizes Alex’s diminished IQ prevents him from planning a kidnapping and learns that his RV contains no forensic evidence of the missing girls. The police captain releases Alex to his aunt, Holly. Convinced of Alex’s guilt, Keller assaults him outside the police station, where Alex whispers to him, “they didn’t cry until I left them”. Keller kidnaps Alex, and along with a very reluctant Franklin Birch, Joy’s father, begins to torture Alex in an empty building Keller owns.
Loki tails Keller to the empty building, where Keller claims he goes to drink, but Loki leaves before he can find Alex. Loki later arrests a man, Bob Taylor, for breaking into the Dover and Birch houses; at Taylor’s house, Loki discovers walls covered in maze drawings and crates filled with snakes and bloody children’s clothes. Taylor confesses to the kidnappings, and Loki discovers he was abducted as a child. As Taylor draws detailed mazes, Loki assaults him and demands the location of the girls. Two other officers pull him off of Taylor, and during the struggle, Taylor grabs an officer’s gun and kills himself. The parents identify photos of the clothes as Joy’s and Anna’s.
