Private Lessons (1981)

Private Lessons (1981) is an American sex comedy film based on the novel Philly by Dan Greenburg, who also wrote the screenplay. Greenburg himself makes an appearance as the manager of a motel in the movie. 15-year-old Philip Fillmore, known as ‘Philly’, is left in the care of Nicole Mallow, a French housekeeper, and Lester Lewis, his family’s chauffeur, while his father is away on a summer trip. Nicole playfully teases Philly and he often uses his binoculars to spy on her through windows or deliberately crosses paths with her at the pool or near her room as she shops. He also sneaks into her room while she’s out.

One evening, after catching Philly peeping into her room, she invites him inside, which astonishes him. However, when Nicole asks Philly to kiss her, he becomes overwhelmed and leaves. He graciously thanks her before confiding in his close friend Sherman. The following day, Nicole extends an invitation for Philly to meet her at night. After a friendly round of tennis with Sherman, Philly searches for Nicole but she is not in her room. To his surprise, he finds her in his father’s bathtub. She asks him to massage her back and then urges him to join her by removing his clothes. Initially hesitant, Philly eventually gives in after being persuaded by Nicole’s sweet talking.
