Prometheus (2012)

Prometheus (2012) is a science fiction horror film directed by Ridley Scott and co-written by Jon Spaihts and Damon Lindelof. Serving as the fifth installment in the Alien franchise, the movie follows a group of astronauts on a mission to investigate a distant planet. As they depart, they witness a humanoid alien consuming a liquid that causes its body to disintegrate. Meanwhile, archaeologists Elizabeth Shaw and Charlie Holloway uncover a star map that matches those from various ancient cultures. They believe it to be an invitation from humanity’s ancestors, known as the ‘Engineers’. With funding from Peter Weyland, CEO of Weyland Corporation, an expedition aboard the Prometheus is launched, with an android named David monitoring their journey while the crew sleeps in stasis. After arriving at their destination – the distant moon LV-223 – in December 2093, events quickly take a terrifying turn.

As the Prometheus reaches its destination, a lifeless and rugged terrain comes into view. Alongside it stands an imposing man-made construction, which the team promptly sets out to explore. Amidst the intricate layout, the team stumbles upon stone cylinders, a colossal sculpture resembling a human head, and the decapitated body of an alien – believed to be an Engineer. Shaw successfully retrieves its head as evidence. Inside are more corpses, hinting at the species’ demise. The unfolding events cause unease for crew members Millburn and Fifield, who try to head back to the ship but end up getting lost within the structure’s walls. A brewing storm marks the end of their investigation as they hurry back to safety on board the Prometheus.
