Race to Witch Mountain (2009), directed by Andy Fickman, is an American sci-fi adventure thriller. In the small town of Searchlight, Nevada, an alien spacecraft crashes just outside of Las Vegas. In response, Project Moon Dust – a covert Defense Department group under the command of Henry Burke – arrives in black helicopters. Without hesitation, the men in black take control of the spaceship and begin their search for its occupants, determined to exploit their DNA and abilities. Meanwhile in Vegas, ex-convict Jack Bruno has turned his life around as a taxi cab driver to avoid returning to jail. Along his route one day, he picks up Dr. Alex Friedman – a failed astrophysicist with plans to speak at a UFO convention held at the Planet Hollywood hotel. After narrowly escaping two thugs looking for Bruno’s services on behalf of mob boss Andrew Wolfe, Bruno’s next passengers end up being two teenagers named Sara and Seth.
The teenagers are offered $15,000 to drive Burke’s men to an unknown destination. Through various discoveries such as stolen clothes, a burglarized car, a bus heading to Las Vegas, and an emptied ATM, the group is tracked down by Burke’s men. Bruno, the taxi driver, gets caught up in a high-speed chase with the group, mistaking them for mob thugs. However, with Seth’s molecular density manipulation and Sara’s telepathy and telekinesis abilities, they are able to escape from both Bruno and the government agents. As they arrive at an abandoned house where the device they were searching for is hidden in an underground laboratory, they are suddenly attacked by a powerful armored alien assassin known as the ‘Siphon’.
