Rambo (2008)

Rambo (2008) is an American action film directed and co-written by Sylvester Stallone, featuring the iconic character John Rambo created by author David Morrell for his novel First Blood. Set during the Saffron Revolution in Burma, the story follows a brutal SPDC officer named Major Pa Tee Tint as he spreads terror through ruthless tactics. Meanwhile, John Rambo has been living in Thailand for 20 years since his time in Afghanistan and Vietnam. He works as a snake catcher and boat driver, but his peaceful life is soon disrupted when missionary doctor Michael Burnett asks for his help in transporting a group on a humanitarian mission up the Salween River to provide medical aid to a Karen village. Initially hesitant, Rambo eventually agrees after persuasion from Michael’s fiancée Sarah Miller.

During their journey, the boat is halted by pirates who demand Sarah in exchange for safe passage. As a result, Rambo is forced to take action and eliminate them. Later on, the missionaries reach their destination but are unexpectedly ambushed by Tint’s armed forces, who capture Sarah, Michael, and other survivors. The head of the missionaries’ church travels to Thailand and approaches Rambo with a request for him to lead a team of five trained fighters on a rescue operation. Accompanied by Myint, a Karen rebel with knowledge of the area, Rambo takes the mercenaries to the designated location. Despite offering his assistance, Lewis, an experienced member and leader of the team who formerly served in the SAS, turns down Rambo’s offer. Eventually, Myint guides them to the scene of the massacre where they witness Tint’s soldiers arriving in a truck with prisoners whom they proceed to torment.
