Regular Show: The Movie (2015)

In the animated comedy film Regular Show: The Movie (2015), six friends – Rigby, Benson, Skips, Hi-Five Ghost, Muscle Man, and Pops – must battle against a deranged villain named Lord Ross. The team is almost completely wiped out by Ross’s plans to erase all of time, with only Rigby surviving thanks to his quick escape in a timeship. However, his former friend Mordecai has been turned into a cyborg and shoots him before he can leave. In the present, Mordecai and Rigby are struggling to keep their jobs after being late due to a breakfast burrito run. That’s when a future version of Rigby arrives at the park, revealing that in their high school days Mordecai and Rigby accidentally created a ‘Time-nado’ that was later weaponized by their former science teacher and coach Mr. Ross, who was arrested for his actions.

Before his death, future Rigby informs his present self of a secret from his past that must be revealed in order to save the universe. Despite the potential risk of destroying his friendship with Mordecai, he knows it must be done. Speaking of secrets from the past, Mordecai reveals the reason they built the time machine – Rigby’s acceptance into their dream school, College University, while he did not gain admission. At first, Benson denies the truth of their predicament until Muscle Man discovers a plasma shotgun on board and uses it to destroy Benson’s car, leaving him in shock. After preparing for their mission and damaging the engines in the process, Skips, Muscle Man, and Hi-Five Ghost stay behind to repair them while the others travel back in time using the ship’s capabilities. They head to Mordecai and Rigby’s high school where they find their past selves working on a time machine. Upon encountering Mr. Ross and facing consequences for their past actions, Rigby is given an opportunity to redeem himself by completing an extra credit assignment.
