Remember Me (2010) is an American coming-of-age romantic drama film directed by Allen Coulter and written by Will Fetters. In New York, Ally is a student at New York University, living with her detective father, Neil, in Queens. Meanwhile, Tyler is also attending NYU and works at the campus bookstore. His relationship with his businessman father, Charles, is strained, while Ally’s father often has to work long hours. One evening, Tyler and his roommate Aidan get into trouble and are taken into custody by Neil. Aidan contacts Charles for help in getting Tyler released but leaves without speaking to his dad. Later on when Aidan sees Neil dropping Ally off, he realizes she’s Neil’s daughter and comes up with a plan to hurt the detective by using her. As they continue to see each other romantically, things take an unexpected turn for Tyler when he starts developing real feelings for Ally.

Upon spotting a tattoo on Tyler’s chest bearing the name ‘Michael’, he discloses to Ally that his brother had tragically taken his own life many years prior. In turn, Ally shares that her mother had been violently robbed and fatally shot in front of her a decade ago. Aidan shows up at Tyler’s place and meets Ally for the first time; he persuades them to attend a party, where Ally overindulges in alcohol. The following day, after her father physically assaults her for standing up to him, Ally seeks refuge once again at Tyler’s apartment where they consummate their relationship. Meanwhile, Caroline, a gifted 12-year-old artist, has her work displayed in an art exhibition and Tyler attempts to convince their father to attend. However, when he fails to show up, Caroline is devastated and Tyler confronts his father in a room full of people.
