Revenge (1990) is an American romantic thriller film directed by Tony Scott. Michael J. ‘Jay’ Cochran, a U.S. Navy aviator, decides to leave after 12 years of service. As a parting gift, he receives matching Beretta shotguns and an invitation from his wealthy friend Tiburon ‘Tibey’ Mendez to stay at his lavish hacienda in Mexico. Tibey, a powerful crime boss, surrounds himself with bodyguards for protection. During his stay, Jay meets Miryea, Tibey’s beautiful young wife who is unhappy due to her husband’s lack of desire for children to preserve her appearance. Jay presents Tibey with a Navy G-1 leather flight jacket but unintentionally offends Tibey’s suspicious right-hand man Cesar by acting independently rather than as an employee. Later that evening, while Tibey conducts business with associates (one of which he kills), Miryea and Jay grow closer and develop romantic feelings towards each other.
During a gathering with Tibey and his crew in close proximity, Jay and Miryea engage in sexual activity in a closet. Concerned that Tibey will discover their affair, Jay confides in Miryea his intention to leave Mexico. However, upon hearing Miryea’s plea for him to stay and confessing his love for her, Jay changes his mind and they make plans to meet at a secluded cabin. In order to throw Tibey off their trail, Miryea lies about visiting her sister in Miami but Tibey overhears her conversation and takes her to the airport, sharing a final goodbye kiss. Unbeknownst to Tibey, Jay is waiting inside the airport and they flee to the cabin together. Unfortunately, their romantic getaway is interrupted when Tibey and his men show up unexpectedly. Tragically, Rocky, Jay’s beloved dog, is fatally shot during the confrontation.
