Rio 2 (2014)

In Rio 2 (2014), an animated musical comedy from Blue Sky Studios and directed by Carlos Saldanha, Blu and Jewel are busy raising their three children – Carla, Bia, and Tiago – in the city. Unfortunately, Jewel is disappointed that her children seem to be adopting their father’s domesticated ways. Meanwhile, Linda and Tulio embark on an expedition in the Amazon and stumble upon a blue Spix’s macaw who loses a feather after tumbling down a waterfall. Once the news of this encounter is broadcasted on television, Jewel becomes determined to go to the Amazon to find more of these rare birds. Despite his hesitations, Blu is pressured into joining the journey with his ecstatic kids. And he even brings along a fanny pack filled with supplies (including a GPS), much to Jewel’s dismay. Additionally, Rafael, Nico, and Pedro tag along in search of talent for Carnival while Luiz unintentionally gets left behind.

The leader of a group of illegal loggers, known as Big Boss, discovers the expedition of Linda and Tulio in search of macaws. He immediately orders his henchmen to pursue them. In the meantime, Nigel plans his revenge on Blu with the help of his new partners, a hungry anteater named Charlie and a poisonous dart frog named Gabi. While exploring the jungle, Blu, his family, and friends come up empty-handed at first. However, they are eventually led to a secret area of the Amazon where a flock of blue macaws is hiding. Jewel reunites with her long-lost relatives – father Eduardo, aunt Mimi, and childhood friend Roberto. Eduardo initially seems unimpressed with Blu but thanks him for bringing Jewel back home. The sanctuary they have found is their new home after losing their previous habitat to fire caused by the illegal loggers. Eduardo strongly dislikes humans and disregards Blu’s suggestion to introduce Linda and Tulio to protect their home.
