Rise of the Guardians (2012)
Rise of the Guardians (2012) is an American animated film that follows the story of Jack Frost who awakens with no memory and finds that he is invisible to others. Three centuries later, the Man in the Moon reveals that the menacing Pitch Black has returned to threaten children with his nightmares. In order to fight back, Nicholas St. North summons E. Aster Bunnymund, the Sandman, and the Tooth Fairy to join him as fellow Guardians. It is then revealed that Jack has been chosen to be their newest member. The group brings Jack to their base at the North Pole where North asks about his ‘center’, which every Guardian possesses and protects in children. While North’s center is wonder, it remains unknown what Jack’s center may be, causing him to be hesitant about becoming a Guardian.
While at Tooth’s palace, Jack discovers that baby teeth hold the childhood memories of their owners, including his own since all Guardians were once human. Surprised by this revelation, Jack is determined to recover his lost memories by finding his tooth. Unfortunately, Pitch intervenes by kidnapping Tooth’s fairy helpers and stealing all the teeth for himself. As a result, children’s belief in Tooth wanes and she becomes weaker. In order to stop Pitch’s sinister plan, the group takes on the task of collecting children’s teeth on behalf of the fairies. During one of their visits, they encounter Jamie who wakes up from the commotion. Despite being able to see everyone else, Jamie cannot see Jack due to his lack of belief. In a violent clash between Pitch’s Nightmares and the Guardians, Sandy falls victim to Pitch’s ultimate attack.
