Robin Hood (1973)
An American animated musical adventure comedy film Robin Hood (1973), produced by Walt Disney Productions and released by Buena Vista Distribution, follows the story of two daring outlaws living in Sherwood Forest. Narrated by Alan-a-Dale, we are introduced to Robin Hood and Little John as they take from the wealthy to give back to the overtaxed townsfolk of Nottingham. Despite the attempts of the Sheriff of Nottingham, they have managed to evade capture. Meanwhile, Prince John and his advisor Sir Hiss arrive in Nottingham with a deceitful plan. By hypnotizing Prince John’s brother King Richard, Sir Hiss has allowed Prince John to claim the throne as de facto King. However, Prince John’s immaturity and greed are revealed when he holds a grudge against Robin and Little John for robbing him while disguised as fortune tellers. In retaliation, he puts a bounty on their heads.
Under Prince John’s command, the Sheriff imposes heavy taxes on the people of Nottingham. In an act of kindness, Robin gifts a rabbit family with money and presents young Skippy with a bow, arrow, and one of his hats for his birthday. Excited to try out his new gift, Skippy brings his sisters and friend Toby to watch him use it, but accidentally shoots an arrow into the grounds of Nottingham Castle. The children sneak inside and come across Maid Marian and her lady-in-waiting, Lady Kluck. Marian confides in them that she and Robin were childhood sweethearts. After returning to Nottingham from London after many years, she wonders if Robin still remembers her.
