Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode I (2007) is an installment of the comedy television series Robot Chicken, which premiered as a special during Adult Swim on Cartoon Network on June 17, 2007 (released in celebration of the original Star Wars movie’s 30th anniversary). The DVD version was released on July 22, 2008. In the opening sequence, inspired by the final scenes of Revenge of the Sith, the Mad Scientist (portraying Palpatine) rescues Robot Chicken (depicted as Anakin Skywalker) from Mustafar and reconstructs it into Darth Vader, then forces it to watch Robot Chicken.
During the battle in The Empire Strikes Back, an AT-AT pilot finds himself on the toilet when Luke Skywalker bravely throws a grenade into the bathroom. Amidst the chaos, Palpatine receives a collect call from Vader who delivers the news that the Death Star has been destroyed by the Rebel Alliance, causing financial strain for Palpatine. This scene is a recycled skit from ‘1987’, although Darth Vader’s voice on the phone has been newly recorded. Ponda Baba, an architect, joins Evazan for lunch at the cantina and directs a question to Luke Skywalker in a non-human language. However, a drunk Evazan misinterprets this as a threat and prompts Obi-Wan Kenobi to slice off Ponda’s arm. Despite his friendly intentions, Ponda suffers further misfortune when he is laid off from work due to losing his drawing arm.
