Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode III (2010), the third and final installment in the award-winning trilogy, premiered on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim programming block on December 19, 2010. As opposed to the usual 11-minute runtime of Robot Chicken, this special runs for 45 minutes, making it the longest of the three Star Wars specials.
In contrast to the prior installments of the satirical trilogy, Episode III presents a more coherent chronological narrative. It spans from events preceding Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace to those following Return of the Jedi. Seth MacFarlane lends his voice to Emperor Palpatine, who serves as a narrator for his own rise to power, Anakin Skywalker’s questionable selection as an apprentice, the downfall of the Jedi, and daily life aboard the Death Star. Boba Fett, voiced by Breckin Meyer (known for his Emmy-nominated writing on Robot Chicken: Star Wars), is featured in multiple skits, including his experience falling into and residing in the Sarlacc pit. Additional sketches showcase lesser-known characters such as Gary the Stormtrooper, Max Rebo, Yarael Poof, and Orrimarrko (also referred to as ‘Prune Face’) – none of whom had spoken lines in any Star Wars films.
